Iza has always loved the ocean. As a pup, she went on boat rides and water adventures with her owner, David. One day, he wondered, Could Iza surf?
David decided Iza should try. They started practicing together in his pool. Sometimes Iza fell off her board. So she wore a life jacket to stay safe.
Before long, Iza could balance on her board. Then it was time for her to test her skills in the ocean. With some more practice, she was soon catching waves and riding them to shore!

Surfing Stars
Iza isn’t the only pup who can surf. Dogs enjoy catching waves at beaches around California and Hawaii. Some even test their skills in competitions—including Iza!
In 2021, Iza entered her first contest: the World Dog Surfing Championships in California. That year, she came in third. Last year, she entered again.
She won!
Iza also won a prize for surfing with her best doggie pal, Faith. The two pups shared a surfboard: Iza stood on the front while Faith took the back.
After a big competition, some dogs enjoy toys or treats. As for Iza? She prefers a cozy blanket and a nap!
