1. Myths are old stories.

Thousands of years ago, people told stories to explain the world around them. These ancient stories are called myths. There are many myths from all over the world. The myth you are about to read comes from ancient Greece.

2. You’ll Meet gods, goddesses, and amazing creatures.

Gods and goddesses often play a big role in myths. They each have their own powers and personalities. For example, Poseidon is the Greek god of the sea. He controls the world’s oceans and rivers.

Myths can also include regular people, heroes, and amazing creatures. One common creature in Greek myths is called Hydra. It’s a scary snakelike monster that has many heads!

3. Some myths include big changes.

When you read a myth, see if any of the characters change shape or form. A big change like that is called a metamorphosis
(meh-tuh-MOR-fuh-sihs).

In one Greek myth, a woman named Daphne turns into a beautiful tree. In another, a woman called Arachne turns into a spider!

4. They can teach lessons.

Greek myths are still popular today. Why? They can teach us life lessons. For example, they can teach us the importance of respecting nature or helping others. What will you learn from this myth? Turn the page to find out!
